Allegations of Sexual Harassment
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit is targeting some of the highest-ranking officials in the Department of Law Enforcement.
Former Deputy Director William Oku Junior is accused of making lewd comments about female coworkers and exposing himself while on duty in 2022. He has since retired.
Legal Action and Additional Accusations
First Deputy Sheriff Lanikoa Dobrowolsky filed the civil lawsuit Tuesday, which also accuses current DLE Director Jordan Lowe of ignoring Oku’s behavior and ignoring complaints about it.
Claims of Retaliation
Dobrowolsky says because he expressed concern, supervisors retaliated, hindering pay raises and promotions.
Official Response
The DLE and Attorney General’s office both declined requests for comments.
